What is Shedding?
Shedding is the loss of excess fibres in some but not all carpets, this is a natural characteristic of wool and viscose rugs. Shedding will increase the amount of care your rug will require, however it is not a fault and will decrease gradually over time, and in no way will it alter the thickness or overall appearance of the rug.
If the rug page states;
No.
The rug you are considering is unlikely to shed.
Yes.
The rug you are considering is likely to shed (i.e. lose small fibres/fluff when in use). The amount of shedding depends on the density, weave, pile height, and size. Therefore, the deeper the pile and the heavier the rug, the more shedding is to be expected (e.g. wool shaggy rugs shed more than others).
